Residential Q&A

No, we do not. We have several well drilling contractors we recommend and would be happy to give you a referral. It is also difficult to be an expert in everything, so we like to stick to what we know best, pumps.

Yes all of the time. New installations require the most time so we will need to assess what the homeowners’ requirements are and determine what Pump system will work best for their needs and budget. Things such as where the well casing or water source is as compared to the home or where power is and how far services need to be run all factor into the proper installation. What are the customers current water needs and what will the future bring? These questions are vital to any new installation. No two pump systems are quite the same. Before you make a decision, let us discuss with you various options that may help save you money. If you need a second opinion, we’re always available to discuss your needs and/or give you a competing bid.

Yes, we do these as well. Irrigation pumps require a lot of input from the homeowner.  How much power is available? how much water is available? what kinds of sprinklers or rotors are being used? how many gallons per minute is the largest zone using? is there a rise or fall to the terrain?  What is your budget? These are just a few things necessary to properly size a pump for your needs.

In most cases, Yes. Typically, we can give you a ballpark estimate over the phone for simple things like tank replacements, switch replacements etc. When it comes to something that is custom, we do charge a service fee to diagnose or estimate a new system. If the estimate is accepted, we credit this fee (if it has already been paid) or we waive the fee if it has not.

The Burgess Pump Warranty for any installation is 1 year from the date of the installation.  We will repair or reinstall any covered equipment at no charge during this time.  All equipment is warranted by the respective manufacturers of the installed products you are receiving which often times is longer than the Burgess Pump Warranty.  These items are usually pumps, motors, drives and tanks.  In these cases, if the manufacturer’s warranty period is still in force, then Burgess Pump will replace that item at no charge but the installation labor and ancillary materials (check valves, plumbing fittings etc.) will be charged as normal.  If a warranty is less than 1 year, we will let you know prior to installing the product and it will be noted on your invoice or work order.  This warranty is voided due to failures from an act of God including but not limited to Lightning, Sand, Fire or Wind.  This also includes or any negligence caused by the customer, company or person that is working at the customers direction, such as an electrician or plumber.  The warranty ONLY extends to the equipment, piping and fittings that is being repaired or replaced.  It does not cover other installed equipment by other companies or persons such as homeowners.

All residential installations must be paid upon completion of the job.  We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards.  Any financing outside of these payment methods must be approved prior to any repair or system installation.

Yes we do, however, we are not 24/7 as some companies may be. For homeowners, a “water-out” or “no-water” situation is serious business and we take every opportunity to schedule homeowners without drinking water prior to all other calls. The closest technician will get a call and as soon as we’re done with a current job, we’ll be heading over to you. Sometimes, that’s across the valley in the snow, but we’ll be there. We work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and on Saturday’s from 8 – 5 as well. We have more technicians to serve you than most pump companies and therefore we can provide our Saturday service at no additional cost to you. Usually, at most, a customer’s down time may be 1-2 days if a “no water” occurs Saturday night. We apologize for this and wish that we could be there for all people 24 hours a day 7 days a week, but our technicians have families and need a break too. We promise that we will schedule you as soon as possible the very next time we’re in the office.

Burgess Pump sells and services all types of water pumping systems including all pressurized irrigation systems used in large and small sub-divisions, homeowner submersible well pumps, jet pumps, irrigation pumps, waterfall pumps, and large turbine pumps for agriculture use.

A constant pressure system is setup using a Variable Frequency Drive or (VFD) to control the pressure in your water system. Electronics control the speed of your motor to increase or decrease it’s output to meet the water demand as its being used. This is very useful when you have very small demand uses like sinks and showers but use the same water source for higher demand uses like irrigation. These systems can also reduce your power consumption and extend the pumps longevity.

If you notice your pump is cycling (turning on and off) more than normal, please call us for a service appointment. There are many reasons a pump can cycle such as a leak in your pipe, a bad pressure tank, a clogged filter or a bad pressure switch. There are a host of other issues that can also cause this. Many people who “self diagnose” their issues typically don’t find the real problem. Call us to get it fixed right the first time.

Yes, we have the capability of using the well camera down to 1000 ft.  The fees range depending on the depth of the well. Using a well camera is a fast and simple way to determine the wells viability or issues. We’ll be able to determine cracked casings, water depth and possible pump issues so you, the customer, can make better more informed decisions.

Yes, we have the equipment and knowledge to rehabilitate a well.  That being said, not all wells will respond and it is possible that nothing we do works and you’ll need a new well.  Call our expert Brian and he will give you an honest answer, one way or the other.

Chlorinating a well is a very time-consuming task when done correctly.  Chlorinating should be done every year at the least, but most people do it when they have a problem, such as a coliform outbreak or Iron bacteria.  If you have one of these issues, chances are, you will not be able to solve it on your own.  Call us for a quote.  We work closely with the lab and can get results for you quickly.

Yes, we do inspections all of the time.  This can also be combined with a water purity test which sends a sample to the lab to document nitrates, coliform and a host of other water issues you may have in order to give your buyer a clean bill of health.

Flush your water, especially after you’ve had Pump work done. New pumps tend to stir up the well and it takes some time to get it calmed down. Flushing may take hours, not minutes. Look for dirty filters which can add to your problems. Not only will you get more sediment from non working filters, but clogged filters can drastically reduce pressure and cause cycling issues.

Call Burgess Pump First. Let us figure out if it is a simple fix or if it will involve a pump replacement. Most issues can be solved cheaply. Our promise to you is that we WILL NOT sell you something you don’t need. We always put your interests first and try and work on the most cost effective solution to get you back up and running.

Box store’s sell mostly irrigation pumps and some sell submersible well pumps. Generally, the irrigation brands sold have all plastic internal parts which are made in in some foreign country. The Big Chains buy these because they are obviously cheaper and can give you a better deal. Typically, we call these “throw away” pumps where you may get 1 or 2 seasons out of them, and then you’re done. Repair parts are typically not available to fix these and replacing, say, a motor costs more than the entire pump.  For submersible pumps, some stores actually carry a name brand like “Franklin”, however, what most people don’t know is that these pumps are not the same quality as what we install and do not carry the same warranties. Franklin does have a low cost pump system, however, as in the irrigation pumps, they are manufactured elsewhere, contain plastic internal parts such as impellers and are sold with inferior warranties.

Community, HOA and Commercial Q&A

Yes we do.  We look at the drawings and design a system based on the parameters of those drawings.  We cannot provide a “Pump In A Box” as they have a proprietary design and are only sold by 1 company.  We can, however, provide the same or better standards in a design within a pump house that is not proprietary so any qualified company can repair or maintain it. New system design can also be a conversion from an existing pump station with equipment that is outdated to a newer pump station with more state of the art equipment and anything in-between. Call or or email us with your requirements and we can setup a meeting to go over what you are trying to accomplish and what your budget is. It never hurts to ask.

Yes, we maintain all type of community pressurized systems, even those meant for drinking water only. Pressurized irrigation systems or PIRR’s as some call them, feed irrigation water to each homeowner of a community through a centralized pump station and is usually paid for through an assessment by the local HOA or some grouping of funds. Burgess Pump installs and maintains these systems for more than 150 sub-divisions throughout the Treasure Valley including Pinewood Lakes, Castlebury West, Foxtail, Covenant Hill, Clear Creek Crossing, Vizcaya, Two Rivers and a host of others large and small communities.  We can even work on the “Pump in a Box” systems provided by Precision Automation in case you are looking for an alternative quote.

Yes we do offer maintenance contracts. We can design one based on the needs of the particular client. We take a look at and assess the system type (what type of pump is pumping the water), age of the system, water quality and the systems filtration methods. We can determine what the customer may want to take care of and what they don’t and then come up with a reasonable schedule that meets the customers needs. Often, the labor rates are negotiated and you receive discounts on current and future materials. Typically the systems startup and shutdown are also included in the contract. We do not guarantee that the system will not go down or break, but with someone constantly keeping an eye on things, cleaning filters and repairing small problems more frequently, the likelihood of a system failure is reduced.

Yes we do, however, we are not 24/7 as some companies may be. For communities or commercial customers, a “water-out” or “no-water” situation is serious business and we take every opportunity to schedule communities and commercial clients without drinking water prior to all other calls. The closest technician will get a call and as soon as we’re finished with a current job, we’ll be heading over to you. Sometimes, that’s across the valley in the snow, but we’ll be there. We work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and on Saturday’s from 8 – 5 as well. We have more technicians and more trucks to serve you better than any pump company in the Treasure Valley. We can therefore provide our Saturday service at no additional cost to you. At most, a customer’s down time may be 1-2 days if a “no water” occurs Saturday night after closing. We apologize for this and wish that we could be there for all people 24 hours a day 7 days a week, but our technicians have families and need a break too. We promise that we will schedule you as soon as possible the very next time we’re in the office.

Yes, we can do all the piping and pump work to create the look that you want, however, we do not build the waterfalls out of rocks / planting materials, etc. Typically landscapers and waterfall designers do that portion and we work with them to add the pumping and piping system.  We favor using the larger pumps such as ones made by Carry Manufacturing for example as they have been tried and tested in these environments.  There are hundreds of Carry Pumps in the Treasure Valley.

No, we leave that for other companies such as Master Rooter who does most of this type of work within the Treasure Valley.
